"Dark Ages" is a term used to describe the early Middle Ages, a period of such rapid change that nobody had time to write anything down. But while the scribe's handwork suffered, blacksmiths were able to continue developing their art.

The double-edged, parallel blade of our Dark Ages spatha is so heavy that it was obviously designed for dealing deadly cuts. The grip is made of wood covered with brown leather. It has ridges that ensure a secure grasp. The grip has a pommel on one end and a ring on the other – both antiqued – to prevent hand slippage in either direction after a well-placed cut. Our Dark Ages spatha comes with a scabbard in matching brown leather.
