Viking Sword from Norway
This sword is almost an exact replica of a type of Viking sword that historians assume was produced in Norway for the most part. The prototype sword was found in Denmark, but the Norsemen were known for their extensive travels and were industrious traders as well, so it could have been found far from where it was made. Type III swords like this one were extremely expensive weapons during the early Viking period but they were used throughout northwestern Europe and Russia during the 9th and 10th centuries. The massive pommel – consisting of a base and a lobed crown – and the crossguard made of nickel silver with a punched hole pattern are characteristic of the type. The wooden grip is wrapped with leather for more control and comfort.
Our Norwegian Viking sword comes with a leather scabbard featuring a chape and decorative leather applications.
