The seax (also called sax, seaxe, and hadseax) was the weapon of choice of Germanic tribes between the early Middle Ages and the Viking era. There are many variations with many different blade lengths: the Merovingian seax was used as a tool as well as a weapon. Our lightweight broad seax has a distinctive blade form and its cutting edge is on the long side of the single-edged blade. A decorative lozenge pattern and stripes are etched into the blade on both sides. Brass studs in the wooden grip add to the decorative effect and also give you a better grip on this seax.
