The end of the Late Middle Ages also marked a turning point in sword types. Swords dedicated to cutting may have been unnecessary before because they had no chance against plate armor, but the advance of projectile weapons changed the picture completely. Because bullets could pierce suits of armor, knights began to wear lighter-weight armor and a new generation of versatile cut and thrust weapons was born.
We will only deliver this product to a legal adult.
The Oakeshott type XVIII sword – including this heavy, one handed sword – represents this development. Although this first-rate weapon weighs 1.5 kg, making it heavier than usual, its manageability is in the normal range. The flaring, curved crossguard and superbly riveted wheel pommel of solid steel balance this heavy one handed sword with crosses very well. Its wooden grip is wrapped with a narrow leather band to provide optimal holding power. This one handed sword from the 15th century has a distinctive ornamental element: five crosses are etched into the broad blade's ricasso.
Our heavy one handed sword with crosses comes with a brown leather scabbard including a matching mount and chape.
