The short sword was the weapon the Romans used to conquer the world of their day. They did not have a standard short sword, and the modern names reflect the shape of their blades and the location where they were found.

This sword ("gladius" in Latin) was found in Pompeii, Italy and has a straight, double-edged blade. It was as effective for cuts as it was for thrusts, which means it was the perfect sword for close combat. The entire hilt, including the grip, is made of selected hardwood: ash and maple, to be precise. The guard prevents your hand from slipping down the blade after a strong thrust. The ample, ball-shaped pommel keeps your hand on the grip after strong cuts. A scabbard with ornamental brass applications comes with this Pompeii type gladius. °Total length: 69 cm °Blade length: 51 cm °Grip length: 8.5 cm °Weight: 0.77 kg °Blade thickness (base): 4.2 mm °Blade width (base): 5.3 cm °Point of Balance (PoB): 10 cm
