Medieval armies started to find daggers useful around the 12th century – primarily as an emergency replacement for broken swords. Daggers with wheel pommels like ours are a slightly later development which probably came hand in hand with the heyday of the wheel pommel sword at the middle of the 13th century.

The broad, hand forged blade of our dagger with a wheel pommel tapers acutely to a point, lacks a fuller, and has a diamond-shaped cross section. The curved crossguard flattens out at the ends. The hardwood grip is wrapped with leather and it is crowned with a solid steel pommel. Our dagger with wheel pommel includes a leather scabbard with a mount and chape.
