Larp Weapons - The foamed weapon for Beginners and Advanced players

Here at Andracor we have collected a wide range of padded weapons from medieval style to apocalytical weapons. On the one hand there are different Larp weapons for beginners, so that they can equip themselves for their adventures. On the other hand, advanced Larper can find fancy padded weapons to expand their character. Our assortment covers all varieties of the Larp. Whether classic medieval fantasy larp weapons, historical foamed weapons or futuristic weapons for zombie apocalypse larp! We have padded swords in all their forms, from the Larp short sword to the Larp two-handed, coreless foamed throwing knives, pole weapons such as Larp spear and battlestick and of course heavy equipment such as the padded axe and maces. Also for lurker characters we have a lot of Larp daggers.

When Buying a Larp Weapon - What do I have to consider?

Which weapon you choose for the Larp depends largely on the character concept. You should spend some time choosing the right weapon. A Viking weapon looks different than a Roman weapon. An elf weapon cannot be compared to a larp weapon for dwarves. Here at Andracor Larp Weapons you will find good padded weapons for beginners who have a fair price-performance ratio. But also Larp professionals who fight a lot will quickly appreciate the foamed Larp weapons from Freyhand or Iron Fortress.

A foamed weapon or larp weapon - what exactly is that?

Larp weapons are weapons that are mainly used for live role-playing games. Padded weapons are also used in martial arts, but this is not our topic. Our padded weapons usually consist of a fiberglass core covered with foam. Larp fights are usually not arranged and the opponents try to really hit their rivals. Larp weapons are for the most part used for close combat if not even infights, i.e. foamed swords, axes, mace, sabres, spears etc.. The range is huge. Also because of the strong fantasy element in the Larp  new creations and designs are added constantly. In addition, there are padded arrows for bows and crossbows as a special case among the Larp weapons.

Building padded weapons - How are Larp weapons made?

The backbone of many Larp weapons is the core. Fiberglass is used almost exclusively for this. This has among other things the property to be quite resistant and nevertheless flexible, which is of course a great thing. The second main component is foam. It is used in various compositions, strengths and hardnesses. Every manufacturer or hobbyist prefers different foams, depending on their philosophy. So cushion weapons can turn out very differently, depending on e.g. which core rod is combined with which kind of foam. These two factors of an upholstered weapon are decisive in determining how heavy, hard or flexible a Larp weapon is. These two main components have actually all foamed weapons in common. However, there are 2 fundamentally different ways of construction:

1. Sandwich construction of Larp weapons
This means roughly that foam boards are cut to size and glued in layers around a core bar. These are then shaped and coated with several layers of latex, then painted and varnished. The advantage of this construction is that anyone can do it at home and, with a little talent and practice, build quite usable padded weapons.

2. Foamed Larp weapons
Here liquid foam is poured or "foamed" around a core. usually in a mould. Since the result of the moulds no longer has open pores, foamed weapons are very rarely coated with latex layers, but varnished after painting. The advantage of this method is a fast and in contrast to the conventional construction method, relatively cheap production, the result also appears much more realistic. This method is mostly used by professional larp weapon manufacturers.
